Landslide Susceptibility Analysis using Grass GIS#

Old version is here

Preface#

This tutorial has two purposes:

  1. Introducing students of GIS and Disaster Risk Management to Grass GIS software, which is very easy to use, but generally considered having steep learning curve.

  2. Introducing students to Landslide Susceptibility Analysis.

Enhancements in this new version:

  1. All the codes can be copied (There were some errors in the previous version)

  2. You can download the landslide polygon (kml file).

  3. All the processings were done in Grass-GIS or using python code. All the codes are provided, so that everything can be done by running the codes one by one.

Basic knowledge of GIS and concept of landslide susceptibility is required to start this tutorial. Explanations and, especially, figures have made this tutorial long. However, total working time to complete this tutorial should be less than 3 hours after preparation of necessary data. Depending on the area of interest (Study area) and resolution of data, the processing time may differ. I have tried my best to make the tutorial easy to understand. Most of the codes in this tutorial can be directly copy-pasted and run in Grass GIS console. I hope that this tutorial will be useful to some of you.
